The Bush Administration and all their allies on the right bitterly opposed the creation of the 9/11 Commission from the beginning. They were never interested in having the truth revealed. It was only after they realized that they were giving the appearance that they had something to hide, did they renege.
By attacking New York City police, firemen and emergency agencies, the 9/11 Commission has played right into the hands of the Bush administration and their far right allies in the media such as Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and The New York Post who would accuse the commission of partisanship and question the very legitimacy of the Commission itself. Actually the exact opposite is true. The legitimacy of the Commission is called into question by the questions that they refuse to ask.
In David Ray Griffin's [January 2004] book: The New Pearl Harbor - Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11 these questions are examined in exhausting detail. Mr. Griffin takes us where the 9/11 Commission simply will not go.
While the Commission is busy attacking our police and fire departments, I cannot help but wonder why other little known and eyebrow raising facts are not even mentioned. For instance, in Mr. Griffins book we learn of a report that:
"Marvin P. Bush, the president's younger brother, was a principle in a company called Securacom, which provided security for the World Trade Center (as well as United Airlines)"…
The security company, formerly named Securacom and now named Stratesec was backed by KuwAm, a Kuwaiti-American investment firm. According to its CEO, Barry McDaniel, the company had an ongoing contract to handle security at the World Trade Center "up to the day the buildings fell down." These revelations are additionally suspicious to skeptics of the official account of 9/11:
"…when this news is combined with testimony from WTC personnel that after the security detail had worked 12-hour shifts for the previous two weeks because of threats, five days before 9/11 the security alert, which had mandated the use of bomb sniffing dogs was lifted"
Another curious and related matter gleaned from Mr. Griffin's book that we learn is…
"On August 22, 2001, John O'Neill, a counter-terrorism expert who was said to be the US government's "most committed tracker of Osama bin Ladin and his al-Qaeda network of terrorists," resigned from the FBI, citing repeated obstruction of his investigations into al-Qaeda. The previous month, O'Neill who held one of the top positions in the FBI, had reportedly complained of obstruction by the White House, saying that the main obstacles to investigating al-Qaeda were "US oil corporate interests and the role played by Saudi Arabia."
The story of John O'Neill ties into the World Trade Center continues as follows:
"On September 10, O'Neill moved into his new office in the North Tower of the WTC, where he had become director of security, and on 9/11 he was one of the people killed. On the night of September 10, he had reportedly told a colleague: "We're due for something big. I don't like the way things are lining up in Afghanistan."
The day before:
"On September 9, the leader of [Afghanistan's] Northern Alliance, Ahmad Masood, was a victim of an assassination, which the Northern Alliance blamed on [Pakistan's] ISI."
The untold story of 9/11 of which the vast majority of Americans are completely ignorant is perhaps due to a US media which seems increasingly to resemble the old Soviet Union's Pravda official propaganda organ. In search of the truth one must now search out media in other countries such as the BBC and other sources on the internet.
While many Americans blindly assume that what is reported as "news" by FOX News, foreign born Americans with family abroad whom regularly visit their homeland seem well informed of these other unofficial and contradictory versions of the events of 9/11.
If the Commission were truly interested in examining the events surrounding the tragedy of 9/11, they would not have to look much further than the shocking book by Mr. Griffin as a good place to start. In fact, the last chapter in Mr. Griffin's book is entitled: The Need For A Full Investigation. Mr. Griffin writes:
"I have argued that a Fourth Estate needs to carry out a thorough investigation of the kind of information summarized in this book. It is usually only when the press leads the way that an official investigation is undertaken."
Unlike the press in Europe and elsewhere, the US media is not leading the way and the 9/11 Commission is not attempting to address the "disturbing" questions that Mr. Griffin has outlined in his book.
By making the Police, Fireman and city agencies and officials of our city scapegoats, it only serves to draw attention away from the Bush Administration where it rightfully belongs. In any criminal investigation, the first party whom should fall under suspicion is the party whom benefited from the crime. Mr. Griffin quotes investigative journalist Patrick Martin:
"In examining any crime, a central question must be "who benefits?" The principle beneficiaries of the destruction of the World Trade Center are in the United States: the Bush Administration, the Pentagon, the CIA and FBI, the weapons industry, the oil industry. It is reasonable to ask whether those who have profited to such an extent from this tragedy contributed to bringing it about."
The 9/11 commission is engaged in the greatest whitewash of all time. Much of the rest of world sees right through the deception, even as most Americans remain comfortably ignorant or even worse, simply refuse to confront the web of inconsistencies.
